How to Destress

Teaches techniques to use throughout the working day, whether in the workplace or at home, to immediately reduce stress.

Work can be stressful. But with a few simple techniques we can help ourselves and those around us become less stressed, more effective and also more fulfilled. This workshop will help you navigate your working day, whether that’s from home or the office, in a more peaceful way that enables you to focus on the professional challenges at hand.

This workshop offers five easy to practice techniques that will immediately help reduce levels of stress in body and mind.

Throughout the day tension can build, it seems everything needs to be done at once and our bodies can begin to ache and complain if we don’t look after ourselves physically as well as mentally. Simple things like the occasional stretch, drinking enough water, or taking time for fresh air throughout the day are instrumental in improving our engagement with work and reducing our levels of stress.

In this workshop participants will learn a short meditation practice that quickly calms the nervous system and soothes our minds. Sometimes known as ‘mico-meditation’ this kind of snap-shot practice can be inserted throughout the day to keep you feeling sharp and attentive to your work.

We can feel overwhelmed at work when we have a number of things to do that feel like they are all a high priority and need to be done immediately. In this workshop participants will learn a neuroscience backed approach to prioritisation that enables them to focus on one thing at a time. Having a good technique for prioritisation is instrumental in enabling more effective work while simultaneously helping to reduce levels of stress.

If we are not vigilant and careful our work can seep into our evenings. This is especially true if we are working from home but it’s also relevant if we are in the habit of bringing work home from the office. The final part of this workshop covers a few techniques and ideas around bookending your working days so that you are properly able to relax once home. We look at cutting edge research into the importance of sleep in maintaining a healthy system and ability to execute tasks effectively at work, and you will leave with a new respect for your sleep and some useful habits to start implementing today.

Participants leave the workshop with a toolkit of five practical techniques they can start using immediately to reduce stress and increase wellbeing.
