Science of Sleep

Provides an understanding of the crucial role of sleep in overall health and happiness, with takeaway tools for how to sleep and rest better.

A good night’s sleep is one of the basic pillars of our physical, mental and emotional health. As any parent will tell you, the slow drip-drip-drip of broken sleep can make the most hardy among us start to crumble at the edges. Mood, thinking, performance, communication and resistance to infection are some of the affected by restless, broken or lack of sleep.

Sleep hygiene is a start but usually not enough to solve the problem. By putting the focus on how we conduct ourselves throughout the day and altering some simple everyday habits, we start to release the tension around sleep itself, our anxiety about which only serves to worsen the situation. Understanding the science of sleep helps restore our faith in sleep as a natural function of physiology, something we can always get back in touch with.

In this workshop we explain why we need sleep and how to reverse the effects of lack of sleep, along with how the body naturally regulates sleep as one of our daily functions. We look at sleep hygiene, what gets in the way and what helps sleep, and importantly how to manage your energy through the 24 hour cycle to cultivate calm.

Participants will leave the webinar with a greater understanding of the science of sleep along with strategies to support themselves when sleep feels elusive.
