Crisis - Cultivating Calm, Compassion & Courage

Shares tools on personal and collective levels to stay buoyant, cultivate calm and bring compassion and courage to our lives together, in the midst of external crisis.

After two years of a global pandemic, the world is now rocked by the outbreak of a tragic war in Ukraine. Whilst all of us are affected, many of us may also be directly implicated either by circumstance, or by choice in offering support.

The impact of troubled times on our mental health has already been well documented as people live with a chronic sense of instability. One benefit of this has been an increased focus on psychological wellbeing and the pivotal role of human-centred leadership.

The session aims to be both realistic and uplifting, giving people tools on personal and collective levels to stay buoyant, cultivate calm and bring compassion and courage to our lives together.

In the one hour event, with Q and A at the end, Dr. B will address the importance of realistic appraisal, grounding ourselves, and what we learn in times of hardship.

We take a look at ‘Me': how inner distress may show up and tools to feel safe on the inside based on fundamentals of neurobiology. We also look at ‘Us': coming together for mutual good, co-regulation, and how to communicate with teams and kids in troubled times. And finally, from the perspective of ‘In the World': the importance of consistent, principled, compassionate interaction and leadership.

The session is intended inspire action to dispel fear and build community, from the belief that the worst of times have the possibility to bring about the best of humanity.
