Connecting With Your Movement Motivation - 6 Module Course

A 6-part course exploring how to form healthy movement habits. The course shares inspiration and strategies for movement that makes you feel good.

We all know that we should be moving more, sitting less and generally leading a more active lifestyle. But life gets in the way, and often taking time to exercise falls to the bottom of our to do list. This can be particularly true in the winter months, when the short dark days make it even more challenging to access the inner motivation to move.

But taking regular exercise has big health benefits for both our physical and mental health. This workshop series is designed to support you in finding or reconnecting with your motivation to move and share practical strategies for you to immediately begin to make positive change to benefit your overall health and wellbeing.

No matter where you are at with your levels of physical activity, be that very active, not active at all, or anywhere in between, this workshop series is designed to provide inspiration and strategies for everyone.

Over the course of the 6 x 1-hour sessions, you’ll explore how to form healthy habits, motivation and goal setting, the impact of movement on mental health, how to maintain your willpower, the importance of rest and how to maintain the change. You’ll also learn practical strategies to reduce and break up sedentary periods and find inspiration for movement that feels good to you.

The course is delivered by our Associate Suzy, a Chartered Psychologist, Yoga Teacher, Personal Trainer and Health Coach. Her work draws on all of these modalities.

Session One: Connecting with your Movement Motivation

In this first session we get clear on what healthy movement is and we dive into the psychology of making healthy habits - the key to sustainable change.

Session Two: Forming your Plan of Action

In this session we crystalise what that change might look like and form concrete goals.

Session Three: Movement as a Mood-Booster

To keep your motivation fresh we need to keep your goals evolving. In this session we look at different types of movements and their purpose and benefits, encouraging you to explore new ways of exercising.

Session Four: Maintaining Your Willpower

In this session we take a look at the ways we can get our brain on side, dialling down guilt and willpower fatigue.

Session Five: The Power of Rest

While the purpose of this series of workshops is to encourage more movement, we also need to address the topic of rest. In this session we clarify what rest is, why it matters and importantly, how to do it.

Session Six: Sustaining the Change

In our final session in this series we take stock, acknowledging the changes that you’ve made over the last six sessions, celebrating the wins and we look at the ways we can keep that momentum going.
